Get Their Way (Again) Liberal, Conservative, Democratic, Republican, Hurling insults to cause them pain, While democracy goes down the drain, But we never stop to question, we just do it out of spite, We never stop to question, who wins what when we fight. (chorus #1) Every time you take rights, They get their way again, Get their way again, Every time you narrow your sights, They get their way again, Get their way again, (chorus #1) Differences, man, that’s the plan, Constitutionally the strength of the land, Compromise binds us together, We can stand true in any weather, But we never stop to question, we just start to bitch and fuss, We never stop to question who’s making sheep of all of us. (chorus #2) Every time you push decay, They get their way again, Get their way again, Every time you throw friends away, They get their way again, Get their way again, You drool when the bell rings, They get their way again, Get their way again, You don’t realize we want the same things, They get their way again, Get their way again, For every conversation you have, We get our again, Get our way again, Think before you get mad, We get our again, We get our way again. (chorus #2) We shouldn’t be whores for the elites, We shouldn’t let other countries make us weak, You’re my brother/sister from down the street, And we both have view-points, unique, They’re playing divide and conquer of the lower classes, But if we respect each other, this two-party scam will pass.

Steam Driven 01:29
Steam Driven Pistons pumping, Water boiling, Then it turns to steam. Old school, Heavy metal, You’re the American dream. (chorus) X2 You’re a thresher, Under pressure, Now you’re just steam driven. (chorus) Don’t need a dinosaur, To hear you roar, Just look to the cloud of smoke. Just turn the key, They’ll soon see, You start best with a little choke. (Chorus) You got the drive, Mechanics in line, The heat is coming on. How you work the best, Running on track, This is how you get the job done. (Chorus) Steam Driven

You’re Coming After You It all happened about two weeks ago, A feeling you got, on your drive home, Looked in your rearview, no vehicles showed, Started looking for wiretaps around your home, Stopped utilizing your cellular phone, Look at people, are they friend or foe? And as the paranoia starts to grow, It goes from what you suspect, to what you know. (chorus #1) Squeaky board, audible breathing, you’re coming after you, Oooh, oooh, oooh, you’re coming after you, Standing hair, quickened pulse, you’re coming after you, Oooh, oooh, oooh, you’re coming after you. (chorus #1) Not your uncle, not the terrorists, Not the bird flu, not the spooky fish, Not your boss, not the communists, Not a stalker, not the government, It was the person with your name, who’s up to it, With the same birth date, the same lack of grit, The one who wears your shoes, who takes your shits, The one out to inflict punishment. (chorus #2) Gain some weight, untie your shoes, you’re coming after you, Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh, you’re coming after you, Lock the doors, batten hatches, you’re coming after you, Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh, you’re coming after you. (chorus #2) It seems for you two choices lie ahead, Fight that summabitch, or lay down, play dead, You know where they live, you know what they said, That weak mirror person doesn’t seem a threat, But if you’re weak and you start to fret, Put yourself on a plane to Himalayan Tibet, I say turn and fight, and you won’t regret, I’ll pay that doctrine or else die in debt. (chorus #3) Shave your face, dye your hair, you’re coming after you, Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh, you’re coming after you, Change your plates, change your friends, you’re coming after you, Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh, you’re coming after you. (chorus #3)

There’s Someone Drowning (In The Public Square) [Well, it was just like any other normal night and I decided to cut through the park] It was any town, like one you’d know, A central meeting place where the grasses grow, A place to bring your children, walk the dog, A park, and in the middle, a pond, A crisp November, with a wind to boot, Homeward bound, I take the scenic route, Fall nights like this can be the finest, Then a shriek cracks the silence. (chorus) Kids are laughing, Checks are cashing, Elders napping, Parents mapping, But someone’s drowning in the public square, There’s someone drowning in the public square. Lovers loving, Cops harassing, Stores are selling, Students passing, But someone’s drowning in the public square, There’s someone drowning in the public square. (chorus) [Well, what I remember is his face. I don’t think I could forget that.] I traced the cries of horror to a man, Broken ice, where he used to stand, You see the pond’s surface had given way, Disbelief and terror on his face, A look in his eyes like he had been betrayed, His fingers ripped at the ice, torn and frayed, His head submerged and he struggled back up, Exhaling the water, his lungs: corrupt. (Chorus) [He was a ways out. I didn’t want to fall through myself. I needed help, quick.] The streets were bustling as I went, Through the crowd, the ending of some event, Enlisting the help of someone who could, A garbled scream, surely someone would!? But I can’t get help, everyone avoids me, Fear, disgust, mistrust, speckles their face, They jump back as my presence, pops into their bubble, They won’t help, they got lives of their own. Shame from the woman with roots who dyes, The baby can’t even be brought to cry, Man with a mustache, brown coat, accusing eyes, The listener never stops to question why. (Chorus) I yell with force, I scream till I’m hoarse, I wave you down, I look you in the eye, But no one comes, No one comes. I pound the ground, I echo throughout town, I wave you down, I look you in the eye, But no one comes, No one comes. I gave all the signs, I howled and cried, I wave you down, I look you in the eye, But no one comes, No one comes. I prayed to gods, I called you frauds, I wave you down, I look you in the eye, But no one comes, No one comes. My heart and breathe grew quick as I drew close, Writhed on the ice, tried to push with my toes, I reached as far as I could, tried and tried, He reached, but was water and terror blind, The ice broke beneath me, death in my cup, I watched with shock as the man gave up, And as the man sank below, I could see, That man sinking to his death was me. (partial chorus) But someone’s drowning in the public square, There’s someone drowning in the public square. But someone’s drowning in the public square, I just drowned and they just stared. (partial chorus) [It was me. All I wanted was someone to reach out to me.]

Pop 01:44
Pop Hey, it’s me, that dude you seen around, I got blonde locks and a funky sound, You can tell by my hat this mother fucker’s down, Come to Cokato, I’ll show you town. And you may not like Rap n’ Rolla, But I can do metal too, if that’s the way to your soul. (chorus #1) I’m Turtle T, And I was born to rock, I’mma disco fiend, Make that ass go pop. (chorus #1) Listen to Brothers Gibb on the radio, You gotta start breathing if you want air flow, Dance in front of me or else you the po’, You gotta wire? Gonna raid my home? And I got 21 bars left for you, Open up, feel the beat, let it funk and groove. (chorus #2) I’m from Minnesota, I was born to rock, I’mma disco fiend, Make that ass go pop. (chorus #2) Ya feet wanna move, but your brain’s too shy, Head starts to nod, gotta dip in your side, Ya hips wanna move, and you don’t know why, Cause gettin’ down’s American as apple pie. And I’m the funky captain, of this, funky ship, Grab your life preserver by the hips. (Chorus 1 & 2)

Release The Kraken The ancient world, filled with magic, I wonder do they know what we didn’t, Closer to the earth and more connected, You gotta love the beasts of ancient lore, Like the Pegasus and the unicorn, Genie wishes and dragon roars, Leprechaun, Sphinx, riddles in the night, Duck-billed Platypus, yeah right, Yeah, they’re cool, I guess alright, But none could beat the Kraken in a fight. (chorus #1) There are many ancient mythical beasts, But only one do I desire to reach, He’s the demon of the deep, He’s the one who has my interest piqued, The Kraken (X6) ________ The Kraken (chorus #1) A giant cephalopod, 12 fathoms deep, Sailors say he’s got rocks for teeth, Made of magic to make people deceased, The internet brings ancient peoples close, I read Ovar Oddr and darker tomes, The sea by Greenland is the Kraken’s home, The twisted thing says submerged for days, And swallows everything in its way, Then vomits its food to attract more prey, I spoke too much, the name’s taboo to say. (chorus #2) I read all of the ancient texts, And I did it all on the internet, Where he lived, killed, loved, and went, And I wanna do something I might regret, He’s The Kraken (x6) _______ The Kraken (chorus #2) I learned incantations in ancient tongues, He knows what I want, how I want it done, Bring the beast ashore for destruction, I got a circle of friends that I can trust, To harness every wave and every gust, As a sacrifice if one acts up, On a plane to Greenland we went, I stood by the watery ocean depths, To awake the monster from its rest, Tame the beast, bring the death. (chorus #3) I traveled back to the Motherland, Next to a body of water I stand, Incantations and tribe at hand, With the beast, we’ll raize the land, Release The Kraken (X6) _______The Kraken (chorus #3) Calling him in, it was the easiest, He reared his dreadful head above the surface, Came to the land, I told him his purpose, But he was gentle with deep perception, He was misunderstood, filled with compassion, Mirrored the monster in me, after a fashion, Like a scene from the “Pete’s Dragon” movie, He had other kids he had to see, Take a piece of thine heart with thee, The whirlpool spins as he drops into the sea. (chorus #4) When he rose, I wanted destruction, But I grew per his instruction, He taught me about life and compassion, I drift and wonder when his next rise will happen, I miss The Kraken (X6), I love The Kraken, The Kraken. (chorus #4)

You Can’t Start The Race Again “Sometimes I look back, over the years, And I wonder why I didn’t do more, wondered why I caused so many tears,” I said in shame, with a slightly dropped head, To my dying friend in his hospital bed, And he said… (chorus) You can’t start the race again (X7) So, run now, while you can (chorus) It was later that week, that we buried him deep, I should have been there more for you man. Did I really need to sleep? And I fell down and wept, out in the street, Till an old man reached out his hand and brought me to my feet. And he said… (chorus) I could’ve been nicer to the people around me, I could’ve denied my anxieties, stepped up, utilized my creativity, I need to let the past passed, go ahead, soldier on, Not live in the night’s darkness, but embrace the light of the coming dawn, What my friend and that man said became clear, I need to move on after the tears, I need to live my life without fear, I need to show respect for my peers, I need to live for those who aren’t here, I need to strive for a life’s that’s pure, I need to live every second, minute, and year, So, I looked at my face in the mirror, I said… (Chorus)

The Funk Giveth I remember one morning, it was last April, I rolled outta bed feeling kinda ill, I couldn’t chill, couldn’t keep it real, Not a cold you could cure with a pill, I couldn’t brake the breaks, couldn’t fill the fills, My voice had no bass, falsetto too shrill, I felt at a loss that I couldn’t feel, But back then I didn’t really know there was a deal. (chorus) X2 Give to the funk, And then the funk giveth, Give to the funk, And then the funk giveth, Give into the funk, And then the funk giveth, Trust in the funk, (#1) Obey the funk, (#2-1) The funk breaketh down, (#2-2) Put some love in the funk, (#3) The funk giveth. (chorus) Now I know that funk is a two-way street, Became a funk monk for the bass and the beat, Started wearing robes at a mountain top retreat, Let my hair grow long, wore sandals on my feet, Gave all my wealth away to a music teach, Set out to greet all the funk I could meet, A cherry cordial life, the center was sweet, Now I know the truth and I won’t be discreet. (Chorus #2) Dispersing the funk like Johnny Funk Seed, You can’t have the funk and also have the greed, Help out others, do a good funkin’ deed, Look to the Purple Minnesotan when you’re in need, When you give what you take, you can be freed, Can’t know the Book of Funk, if you won’t read, Look up some funk, you’re gonna get your feed, Lemme do my part and get on these funkin’ keys, like, (Chorus #3)

Lock Him Up 04:54
Lock Him Up Nobody wants an indictment, No one wants to have to post bail, Nobody wants to face the punishment, Behind the bars of a tiny cell, Every now and then you get pieces of shit, Just a couple drops in the societal well, Who need to be arrested, found complicit, And rot their lives away in jail. (chorus #1) When he’s using an insecure cellular device, Lock Him Up! (X2) When he leads the abduction of children by ICE, Lock Him Up! (X2) When his key to power’s democratic sacrifice, Lock Him Up! (X2) When he’ll sell America at the highest price, Lock Him Up! (X2) (chorus #1) Maybe you’ve sat for your own stint, Or maybe you’ve paid a fine, Amount of affect should weigh the judgement, Often the punishment don’t fit the crime, Blue-collar criminals, a decade sentence, White-collar criminals just resign, The former don’t show a few people deference, The latter, 325 million at a time. (chorus #2) When he exploits the U.S. for his business, Lock Him Up! (X2) When he sells public lands to business interests, Lock Him Up! (X2) When he alters judicial branch and appointments, Lock Him Up! (X2) When he maligns the free press as resistance, Lock Him Up! (X2) (chorus #2) [break down/samples] Let’s all stand by America’s river, And cast our nets, far and wide, Our haul tonight won’t be for dinner, It’s to restore our American pride, We can pull together against the current, Let a sense of justice deny the tide, Throw the little fish back as precedence, But drag the big fish up on shore to dry. (chorus #3) When he heaps praise on authoritarians, Lock Him Up! (X2) When he rigs American elections, Lock Him Up! (X2) When half of his staff have Russian connections, Lock Him Up! (X2) When your president’s a whore for the Russians, Lock Him Up! (X2) (chorus #3)

Hands Up 01:58
Hands Up If you’re being held up, put your hands up, If you’re blocking out the sun, put your hands up, If you’re going long, put your hands up, If you’re wacky armed inflatable, put your hands up, If you’re falling off a cliff, put your hands up, If you’re into this jam, put your hands up, If you’re checking for BO, put your hands up, If you have bad BO, don’t put your hands up. (chorus) It’s a general motion, With an array of notions, That crosses the oceans, Put your hands up. (chorus) If your name starts with a letter, put your hands up, If you’re on a roller coaster, put your hands up, If you’re doing the wave at a sports game, put your hands up, If you have two answers to my question, put your hands up, If you’re putting on a t-shirt, put your hands up, If you’re sky diving, put your hands up, If you’re fed up with this world, put your hands up, If you’re in a straight jacket, don’t put your hands up. (Chorus) If you’re the Y in YMCA, put your hands up, If you’re jumping jack, put your hands up, If you’re stepping up a ladder, put your hands up, If you’re playing Simon Says, Simon says put your hands up, If you’re reaching for your dreams, put your hands up, If your hula hooping, put your hands up, If you reff a field goal, put your hands up, If you’re under a helicopter, don’t put your hands up. (Chorus)

Picnic of Lemon & Pear

about

Thanks to Peach Buck for creating the album cover artwork. Thank you to my friends/family who have kept me sane during these crazy times. 2020 exists as an anomaly amongst the span of my years. This album is dedicated to Terry Joe VanLith, my guitar player in MeatHook for 17 years. I knew him since he was 10, and we were and are brothers. I know that our struggles often define who we are, but it is the humor that we share with each other that verifies we are still alive and we can make it through another day. Terry and I shared a good many jokes. I hope you enjoy the album.

Peace,
Turtle T
